AtlasLit Is For Literary Explorers

For book lovers, their passion has the power to add an extra dimension to their perspective as they travel.

In a world where not much remains to be discovered, they can become explorers of unchartered territories.

Stories show us the world through the eyes of authors, opening our minds and hearts to a wealth of perceptions.

Stories take us back in time or sometimes forward to the future.

Then, across space and time, the world we travel seems to have no limit.

“Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life – and travel – leaves marks on you. Most of the time, those marks – on your body or on your heart – are beautiful. Often, though, they hurt.” ― Anthony Bourdain

Travel starts well before the time we step out of our home and give instructions to the neighbor about how to feed the cat.

Reading in preparation for our next peregrination, we start exploring from the comfort of our armchair and feel our expectations growing.

To experience the voyage itself, not just the destination, with plenty of time to read and observe fellow travelers, can be a source of wonder too. It might be a good time to meditate about Buddha’s famous quote, “happiness is a journey and not a destination.”

Then there is the time spent on location, which feels like an explosion of sensations born from a rewarded anticipation, perhaps some disappointment too, and even possibly a longing for home.

“Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.”― Ibn Battuta

Once we return home, soon, the excitement of being back among friends and family, or of purring loudly with our cat again, wears off.

To beat the post-travel blues, it is time to read more about the places visited or to write it all down and turn our memories into a story, our story, which might, in turn, inspire others to take off.

If the circumstances of life make it impossible to travel, by simply opening our heart and our eyes, we may find out that adventure is waiting for us just around the corner. It only takes the right mindset.

You read books because they can take you anywhere you want.

AtlasLit is where literary explorers start their discoveries.

We want to create a new space that changes the way we read, travel, and discover books.
